Mylan Laboratories last month received Food and Drug Administration approval for a 25 mg strength version of metoprolol tartrate, the first generic equivalent to Novartis’s hypertension drug Lopressor to be approved in that strength. Mylan currently carries metoprolol tartrate in 50 mg and 100 mg strengths and will begin shipping the new formulation soon, the company stated.
